Flying Monkeys Craft Brewery
Barrie, ON
Rooted in basement brewing with his Gramps and bubbling, thick university experiments in zymurgy, our founder, Peter Chiodo, realized his epic vision of craft brewing with the Flying Monkeys in 2009.
The Flying Monkeys’ Mission: Brew Fearlessly. And make beers we love.
Challenge Normal, because doing it “the way everyone else does it” is just plain Weird.
Besides love, we use all kinds of other natural ingredients in our beers. Anything fresh and inspiring floating around at brew time is fair game.

Hoptical Illusion
Illusions twist the expected into the unusual. Hoptical Illusion unveils mesmerizing visions of Craft Beer glory with its beautiful dry-hopping with grapefruit-y Amarillo hops. In the art of craft brewing, Hops are to Brewing What Insanity is to Art. Have you ever met a craft brewer that wasn’t just a little mad? Our cheeky riff on the American Pale Ale is to brew with a bedrock of British crystal malts and then dry-hop the bejeezus out of the beer with a big mess of citrusy Amarillo and Cascade hops. The citrusy, hoppy front of this beer is quickly followed with lingering notes of honey and bready malts. The fruity finish hints of sticky pine sap, but the grapefruit gains ground toward the end of each full-flavoured sip.

Deep Tracks
Spawned from the sweeter English Brown Ale, our Canadian Craft Brew still has a traditional maltiness, but we lace the finish with the citrus and floral notes of Centennial hops. A perfect brew for the in-between weather of the coming Fall and the throes of Autumn. Deep Tracks pours an alluvial brown with toasty malts and caramel nuttiness tracking through the clean floral dryness of a subtle Centennial hop finish. Our American Brown Ale is great alone, but it’s also an incredibly food-friendly beer style that improves with any cuisine. Pair this beer with grilled steaks with fresh ground pepper; aged cheeses, such as Gruyeres or goat cheeses; and a lovely stand-in for coffee with desserts.

TASTE Unfiltered to preserve the tropical aromas, lemon crispness, and melon-y hops, the tart finish of this beer is a refreshing session in each contemplative sip. Somewhere between a session ale and an IPA, Theoretikal Zero boasts a bright gold tangerine-biscuit body with surprising melon notes followed by a pithy citrus finish abounding in tropical aromas and tea-like resins for a refreshing session in each contemplative sip. Seductive and beautiful with delicately announced yet demanding flavours, Theoretikal Zero deliciously explores the ever-evolving horizons of craft brewing. STYLE With zero hops in the boil, Theoretical Zero, in theory, has 0 IBUs. But with a double dry-hopped doses in the fermenter every five days of the fermentation, beautiful hop aromas and flavours bloom in this fresh, unfiltered session ale circumventing the technical component of hops in the kettle.

Wonder Star
Brewing Differently – And Digging it.
Zippy tartness, psychedelic currant twists, and far out waves of bright hops star in the blushing body of this clean botanical lager. Dry-hopped with lemon-y Amarillo hops, Wonderstar sings with a fresh mouthfeel, ever-so-slight bitterness, and winks of a citrus garnish to the finish. Whether enjoyed early on weekend patios, in the afternoons dockside, or for cocktails at twilight, Wonderstar brings its own fresh smile.
Even better than its gin botanical muse, Wonderstar is a crisp, light-bodied craft lager. With fruit on the nose, fresh juniper and citrus aromatics, and ever-so-slight bitterness from fresh citrus-y hops, Wonderstar is ranks high in the pantheon of Ultimate Patio Beers, which is basically the craft beer equivalent of a Yacht Rock playlist. The botanical lager, like the fruit beer, is for all you mofos who, like us, do it patio style. Take a clean (albeit lame) refreshing lager, the kind you’d already find in a dockside cooler or a lawnmower cupholder, then summer it up with all the fresh fixin’s of super-sippin’ cocktails and fresh teas imbibed under the gazebo, poured on a patio, or sloshed from a pitcher on the front porch. Now keep it all a sessionable abv with bright hops and tart botanicals, and make good stuff. Be creative, folks.
