Can you hear that ringing from Huron County? It’s the sound of pride and a call to beer lovers that something fresh, bold and tasty has arrived. Famous for our Blyth Festival Theatre, the only theatre in Canada to premiere 100% Canadian content, we’re contributing something a bit different to the craft beer scene – and a lot different for Huron County.

Absent Landlord Country Kolsch
Founded in 1855 as Drummond, Blyth was renamed in 1877 after a wealthy landowner in Berkshire, England bought the majority of the town, sight unseen. Henry Blyth, Esq. never made the ocean voyage to visit his namesake in Canada. Absent Landlord is named after Henry. It is our expression of a Kölsch-style beer brewed with a perfect combination of old world and new world ingredients, fermented warm, and left honest. It’s unfiltered and unpasteurized to let its elegant and delicious flavours stand proud. Tasting: Elegant yellow fruits, floral, lemongrass
#6 Abbey Braggot IPA
Like a classic American IPA, this beer has a simple malt bill and is loaded with hops, but is brewed with honey and fermented with a Belgian Ale yeast. The Belgian yeast gives it the “Abbey” touch by providing spice, while the honey adds the “Braggot,” which is a beer and mead blend.

Renegade Series #1 Rauchbier
It’s time to get bold with Renegade. Each month our Brewmaster will experiment with unique techniques and ingredients to bring you a new and unexpected beer in our Renegade Series. Each limited production beer is available at select bars and restaurants and only while quantities last!
This month we feature a classic Rauchbier, a German smoked lager. This beer is created in an old world tradition and brewed with Beechwood Smoked Malt to give it a smooth, smoky flavour. Rauchbier may have originated in Bamberg, Germany, but we’re bringing it home to Blyth.
Tasting: Smoked meat, a touch of grain and honey, deceptively smooth
Renegade Series #5 Belgian Tripel
#011 Molasses Vanilla Porter
Part of Cowbell Brewing Co. Renegade Series Our Molasses Vanilla Porter (MVP) is a classic porter that has a balance of malty, chocolate and latte sensations – then heightened with molasses and vanilla. Tasting Notes Dark flavours are all over this beer in a balanced and silky manner. Milk chocolate and vanilla are prominent, with waves of molasses sensations of caramel, burnt sugar, and dark fudge. The beer is medium sweet to enhance the malty characteristics, and with little bitterness. The finish is smooth and creamy.
Lorna Bray Fly Girl Nitro Oatmeal Stout
Lorna Bray Fly Girl is not your average stout. This Nitro Oatmeal Stout is bold and courageous - just like its namesake. Brewed with loads of cookie-like oats, roasted cocoa nibs, and dark chocolaty malts, we’ve nitrogenated this beer to elevate its silky smooth cocoa character to new heights. The story of Lorna Bray Fly Girl Born in Blyth in 1931, Lorna Bray was Canada’s original Fly Girl. At age 14, she made her first solo flight in a Piper J-3 and at age 16, was the youngest woman in Canada to make a parachute jump. A high-latitude pilot, she also flew everything from helicopters to DC-3 transports to bush planes.
Belgian Maple Dubbel Renegade Series #015
Our Renegade #015 Belgian Maple Dubbel is fermented with a classically fruity and spicy Belgian Ale Yeast and dosed with 250kg of local dark maple syrup, replacing the traditionally used Belgian Candi Syrup. The result is a dark, fruity and sessionable Belgian-style beer with hints of maple and wood. Tasting Notes Renegade #105 Belgian Maple Dubbel shows aromas of cinnamon, clove and honey. There is a sweet dark fruit character on the nose that leans a bit oaky with a hint of maple. After the first sip, more maple becomes immediately pronounced. The first sip is smooth, opening to figs, prunes and brown sugar. Maple is woven smoothly into the fruity malts and spicy Belgian Yeast. Elegant, sumptuous and enticing.
Renegade #017: Orange Rose Pale Ale
Start with a classic American Style Pale Ale, then add a touch of balancing bitterness and top it off with hop aromas and citrus flavours. Hop sensations that seem to lift off the beer – not rush at you, but dance along the edges of the beer and show you there is something more going on here to enjoy. Orange Rose Pale Ale brings a complement of fresh orange zest and rose hips added in whirlpool. Four distinct hops were chosen for their orange and citrus characteristics, then carefully deployed to impart balanced flavour and aroma, and only a delicate bitterness.
